Sustainability and Recycling
Make the Right ChoiceFor every ton of paper we shred (EPA):
- Enough energy is saved to power the average home for 6 months
- 7000 Gallons of water are saved
- Almost 100 cubic feet of landfill space is saved
- Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by one metric ton of carbon equivalent (MTCE)
Doing Our PartAs more and more people and businesses become increasingly concerned about the environment and climate change, recycling has become a top priority for many. At Polar Shredding we are well aware of the amount of paper that gets wasted during secure document destruction and therefore we offer our customers various recycling initiatives. This is why we have recognized the need to do our bit for the environment in a bid to help protect our trees and the ozone layer.
With every ton of paper that is recycled up to 17 mature trees are saved from unnecessary destruction. This is just one of the many reasons why recycling all of the paper that we collect from our document destruction services has always been our policy. Throughout the course of the year recycling not only saves energy, but thousands of trees as well and also helps to slow down climate change. We like to emphasize this point to our customers so that they can appreciate the benefits of recycling and what it does for the environment.
We are keen to encourage all of our customers to help us when it comes to recycling and protecting the environment so we have introduced recycling initiatives in which everyone can get involved. Anyone who uses Polar Shreddings scheduled Route Service to have their documents shredded can receive a 'Tree Saved Certificate' once the process has been completed. The certificate informs our customers how many trees they have saved by having their papers recycled by us.
Customers who participate in this scheme on a regular basis can even have a tree planted in their very own name. As well as this, they will receive the exact details of the tree's location and its annual growth rate.
